Guillaume Laforge - G2One - Presenting on Groovy & Grails at the Irish Java Technologies Conference on January 7th and 8th 2009Guillaume Laforge is the Groovy Project Manager, and Spec Lead of JSR-241, the Java Specification Request standardizing the Groovy dynamic language. He co-authored Manning's best seller "Groovy in Action".

Along with Graeme Rocher, he founded G2One, Inc., the Groovy / Grails company dedicated to sustaining and leading the development of both Groovy and Grails, and providing professional services (expertise, consulting, support and training) around those technologies.
You can meet Guillaume at conferences around the world where he evangelizes the Groovy dynamic language, Domain-Specific Languages in Groovy, and the agile Grails web framework.

In November 2008, his company was acquired by SpringSource, as Groovy and Grails bring additional weapons to the SpringSource portfolio to fight the war on Enterprise Java complexity.

What You'll Hear at Guillaume Laforge's Presentation on Groovy

Groovy is a dynamic language for the JVM, providing modern features to Java developers today as Groovy has the best integration with the Java platform and language so far. In this session, you will learn step by step how Groovy can help you in your daily Java development and still be able to tell your boss you are working with Java.

This presentation will show participants how Groovy works on its own and how it can interact with usual Java code. It will cover the major Groovy-isms that one should be aware of when coming to Groovy from a Java background and equally will provide a high level overview of all the Groovy syntax constructs, its specific features and APIs to simplify the life of Jave enterprise developers.

Also, with the recent release of Groovy 1.6, new features have seen the light of day, and this session will cover the novelties in this new version: multiple assignments, Swing and Swing improvements, metaprogramming additinos, Abstract Syntax Tree transformations, and more.
